I would like to welcome myself back to the blog world after a short hiatus. I can't really say that I have been busy or had any really good crazy moments (like usual) to tell. So I'll just give you a little summary of what's been happening with the Pfeiffer's lately.
Number 1 Fan
Jason and I have gone to the past two Pacers games and we now feel like we are their number one fans. Jason has a client that gives him his tickets when he can't go. The seats are amazing and just a few rows up from the court. The only downfall...I really don't want to be on the jumbotron. Every time they pan the crowd, I act like I have to go to the bathroom. The people around us must think I have some kind of problem with my restroom needs but frankly, I would rather them think that than have ten thousand people staring at me on the air guitar cam.
Related Basketball News
I bonded with my 6th grade boys today while talking about Danny Granger, Tyler Hansbrough, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Lebron James. I know...it kind of freaks me out too that I was talking about basketball and actually knew what I was talking about.
First Sleepover
Kinsey and Kaitlyn went to their first sleepover last weekend. One of Kinsey's friends from school turned 6 and both girls were invited since they both know her. We thought that Kaitlyn would be the one that would have a hard time going to bed because Kaitlyn hates going to bed. But in a crazy turn of events, we found out that Kinsey never even went to sleep. She was soo tired the next day she slept almost the entire day. Her excuse? She told Jason and I she didn't sleep because she just wanted to play balloons. She got tired of everyone sleeping, so she woke them all up at 6:30am to play balloons with her.
Randomness
I have two phrases that I have been using repeatedly in every situation at school 1)Fo Sho! 2)This is wack! (Mainly thanks to Daria)
Big Winnings
So I posted on Facebook that IPS gave me $100 dollars to spend in my classroom for being a Teacher of the Year finalist for the district. I finally decided what to spend it on. It was a toss up between calculators and books for Writer's Workshop. I decided to buy a bunch of books by my favorite author that I use almost daily in workshop, Lester Laminack. Last summer I got to spend three days with him at a workshop and he is the most amazing author I have ever met. In all fairness, he is the only author I have ever met, but I'm pretty sure he is the funniest.
Peeing your pants must be cool
I had to administer the Tara Nova test to 1st graders today to see if they qualify for the gifted and talented program (let me remind you that I teach 5th and 6th graders). I just get all these little people seated at the table in my classroom and realized that none of them fit at my table because my chairs and tables are too high for them. But I go on anyway. I just finished reading the second question of the test when a little hand goes up. I call on her and she says, "Um, I made an accident." I respond, "You mean you marked the wrong answer?" Of course not! The little pumpkin says so sweet, "no, in my pants." I started having flash backs of when Jill made a two year old pee in my backseat while we were babysitting during college. I looked down and saw the wetness. I said, "On my chair?! Right here?!" I sent her off immediately. Then when I was going up to get them in the afternoon, I saw a kindergarten student standing in the hall (I only know her because she is in Kinsey's class). I asked if she need help. She said, "Mrs. Pfeiffer, I have wet pants. I peed in them." Two in one day! These younger students must have spread the word to each other that I am the one that deals with all this. You may remember this incident. And that, folks, is why I stick with teaching the older kids.

Because this only happens to me
I was in Fort Wayne this past weekend for News Years and was out running a few errands. I know I haven't lived in Fort Wayne since 2001 (Wow..that's hard to believe) but I have a pretty good understanding of the town. I'm especially good with area where my parents live, seeing as how I grew up there and everything. As I was out running around, Jason called me and asked me to stop by National City and make a payment for one of our cars (Only FOUR more payments!) and he so kindly directed me to the closest National City in the area. If you know the north east side of Fort Wayne, he told me to go to the National City by Target on Maplecrest Rd. I thought of course I'll go to that one because it is right where I am and it's convenient. I pull up to the drive through at the bank, put my payment in the little transporter and send it away. I sit back smiling, knowing that I just knocked out another payment and I only have a few more to go until this car is done! I was so excited that I almost did a fist pump to the teller staring back at me. It wasn't until she started speaking that I realized why she was staring at me. "Ma'am, this check says National City." I thought to myself, why is this woman stating the obvious to me. Of course it's to National City, that's who I make payments to, that's why I'm sitting at this bank, that's why I just sent you transporter, and it's why I just did a fist pump in my mind. "Yes it is" I kindly replied. She paused and looked at the teller next to her and I began to get a little unsure of my surroundings. I look around and see all the banners that are LARGE as could be. Just as I realize that I'm not at National City bank, the teller has to announce it, "This is Chase Bank. I can't take a payment to National City." Of course the five people around me all have their windows down and hear the mistake I've made. She sent my check back to me and off I went without making my payment. Needless to say, I withdrew my fist pump thoughts at that moment. As I drove off, a flood of memories came back to me about things like this that I swear never happen to anyone else. Like me falling off a chair last year during parent/teacher conferences, having every single shaving cream can fall on the floor at my feet during a quick stop at Target, having strange Kirby salesmen come to do a demonstration and think I'm a total weirdo, think my husband is a robber trying to get me, get attacked by ducks while camping, have a daughter that wanted tampons for her third birthday, and of course the list goes on and on. I'll just add this one to my list. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go to the real National City.
