Don Quixote de le Mancha

As many of you know, the story of Don Quixote de le Mancha has become a very big unit in my classroom. If you don't know the story of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, you should. I took my students to see a brillant play that told this story in English and Spanish, which fit right in as we are a Spanish Magnet school. We read a short story of Don Quixote and watched a historical video about it as well. My classroom loved this unit!!

This picture is a painting by Pablo Picasso of Don Quixote and his squire. We have this print hanging in our school :) The biggest lesson you should take away from this 400 year old, classical historical fiction, "If you don't try, you won't succeed. If you don't try grandly, you won't succeed grandly." By far one of the best stories when you learn the history behind it.

Amazing Jason

I would like to let everyone know that Ryan, Kellie, and I have found out that Jason is amazing at Text Twist. He can unscramble any six letter word ... including "spalls" which, FYI, is the plural for "spall."

That is why I love and cherish him; because he knows words like spalls.

St. Patrick's Day

As I went to pick up Kinsey and Kaitlyn after a long day with sixth graders, I was ecstatic to find two little girls all dressed up for St. Patrick's Day. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing two smiling faces running toward you saying "Mommy, look at me! Look what I made!" The innocence of childhood is remarkable and the wonderment of motherhood is ... awesome :)
