Happy 5th Birthday Kaitlyn

Happy Birthday today to my little Kaitlyn!  I can't believe she is five already.  Yesterday, we celebrated her birthday at Recreation Unlimited.  The weather was less than stellar yesterday so some of our family from Fort Wayne couldn't make the drive.  We missed them greatly and wished they could have been there to celebrate with us.  However, Kaitlyn had a great time and said she had a perfect birthday :)

This afternoon, I was able to get the thank you cards done.  I know if I put these off, I will end up sending them a month later.  It's better for me to get them done right away.  This time, I was so excited to do the thank you cards because it gave me a chance to use my Cricut that Jason got me for Christmas.  I love how they turned out and can't wait for another occasion to make more cards!

Enjoy the Super bowl today everyone!

A crafty thank you

After Kinsey's party yesterday, I decided that I was going to be on top of the thank you's and get them done right away.  Since I had all day today, that is what I worked on.  I originally started creating something on regular printer paper and quickly realized that was not going to be good enough for me.  I needed a full on craft project and printer paper does not suffice as a craft project.
I found this box that had a bunch of wedding invitation kits and ribbon that I've had for about four years now waiting for me to be creative with.  In the box were a heck of a lot of small blank cards and envelopes.  Perfect for a project!  With a quick trip into Microsoft Word, a hole punch, and some ribbon...the thank yous are done!
Disclaimer:  By looking at these pictures you are possibly ruining your chances of being surprised if you ever get a thank you from the Pfeiffer family.  Because I had so much fun making these, I will probably be thanking a lot of people from now on, not that I didn't before.  Plus, I have four wedding kits of cards to use up (about 400 cards)!

Just a bunch of old women

This weekend was busy, to say the least.  On Saturday I went to a baby shower for a good friend of mine from college.  I quickly realized how much I was out of the baby loop when we played a game of scrambled baby words and I didn't know any of them!  I had to cheat off Emma's paper.  It got even worse when Megan started opening gifts and I had to ask Emma what some of those things were.  Have baby essentials really changed that much in four and a half years?
Of course we had to have the quintessential photo of friends from Manchester.  We took about 30 pictures before finally getting this one.  The 29 previous ones Emily, the one peeking out on the side, told us we looked like a bunch of old women posing for a picture.  It was a great shower and I had so much fun spending time with everyone!  I can't wait until baby Luckey arrives!  Congratulations again Megan and Joel!

Then on Sunday we had Kinsey's birthday party in Fort Wayne.  I can't believe that she is 6!  It was so nice to see all of our family and friends.  Thank you everyone who was able to come and celebrate with us!  We had a blast jumping in the bounce place, slipping on the slip-n-slide, having a cookout, and playing in the pool!  Thank you so much to my dad and Dede for letting us over run their house with kids for the day! And thank you to my mom, dad, and Dede for helping us get everything prepared and set up. You guys are the best! It was wonderful.  Happy 6th birthday Kinsey!

Recent Happenings

#1 Happy President's Day and all that
#2 Congratulations to my best friend Sarah Ryan and Phil for getting engaged this weekend! Love you both so much and I'm so excited for you two :)
#3 Congratulations to Adam and Nanci Custer on their new baby girl..I can't wait to meet her.
#4 Congratulations to Megan and Joel Lucky on their news of expecting their first baby :)
#5 Happy Valentine's Day a little late. We celebrated Valentine's Day as a family and spent Friday night and Saturday together. On Saturday afternoon I received this wonderful gift Most of the strawberries were chocolate dipped and delicious!
Late Saturday evening my mom came to visit for a few days. It has been so busy with everything going on that we really haven't spent much time with our families from Fort Wayne so it was nice to see my mom this weekend. The last Valentine's gift I got was a wickless candle, which I have been burning the Sticky Buns scent all day and it smells amazing! I got the one called Zeus and it matches my kitchen perfectly. These things are amazing and you can find them here or if you want to host a party, I know a consultant.
#6 My baby Kaitlyn is now 4 years old..FOUR! I know it's cliche but I can't believe how fast the time goes. We celebrated with our family and friends by going to Pizza Hut (Kaitlyn's choice) and then taking everyone to build-a-bear. Everyone had a great time and said how much they enjoyed it.

#5 Kaitlyn received a gift card for Old Navy for her birthday. I took her there and let her pick out whatever she wanted with her "credit card." She did a pretty good job. She picked out this whole outfit and the cow!
#7 Last semester my students finally finished their Social Studies projects on Medieval Times. I created a webquest (Click here to check it out) for them and incorporated it into writing. Students work independently and in groups to create newspapers. Each student had to write three articles. We stressed paper by putting it in a tea bath (the students LOVED doing this!) to make it look old. When all of their articles were finished, they had to decorate their newspapers. Here are a few of the finished projects:

#8 Have a great week everyone!

I bet you didn't want this for your third birthday

There has been a buzz around our house because something big is coming up next weekend. Next weekend Kaitlyn is having her third birthday party. Kids always get a little crazy when they know their birthday party is anywhere within six months of happening and our kids are no exception. Kaitlyn has been really scoping out the commercials and letting us know exactly what she wants. She points it out and says, "I want that for my birthday. Mommy, I want that." Then she makes you look at it and repeats herself until you acknowledge that you understand that she wants that and you will put it on her birthday list.
As I was making dinner the other night, Kaitlyn was watching TV (to scope out more toy commercials I assume) when she started telling Jason and I frantically that she wanted that. I, calling out from the kitchen and not being able to see the TV, try to pacify her and say, "Got it Kate. We'll put it on your birthday list" having no idea what it was. She was not satisfied with my answer and told me "Come see. You can't see it" and made me come look at the commercial so I knew exactly what it was she so desperately wanted.
As I come into the living room, I see a very colorful commercial with girls twirling and dancing around. Then the product pops up. Tampons. Tampons! After laughing for a moment, Jason reassured her, "Don't worry. You will get those someday."

Emma was right. These people did a great job at marketing their product. However, I think their target audience is a little young! I guess it gives them something to look forward to when they grow up...

Happy Birthday Kinsey!

There is so much to tell about this weekend! We celebrated Kinsey's birthday this weekend and it was so much fun! Each year, Kinsey has a theme that she wants for her birthday and this year it was Hanna Montana. Thank you very much to everyone that was able to come and celebrate her special day! We were so scared that it was going to rain but it turned out to be a beautiful day. All of the kids enjoyed jumping in the clown bounce house and playing in the sprinkler and slip n' slide! After an exciting day jumping and playing in the water we watched the Fishers fireworks to end a perfect 4 year old birthday :)
