Our cultural celebration

We are coming up on the end of the year...6 days to be exact. With the end of the year is Cultural Day. This is such a huge day for our school. Being a Spanish Immersion school (our students receive half of their day in English and half in Spanish) each grade level has a country of study. At the end of the year we showcase what each grade level has learned about their country by having a Multicultural Day. Every grade level displays all of the projects they have done throughout the year. Every grade also prepares a traditional food item representative of their country. Then, each grade gets to travel around the school visiting all of the different Spanish speaking countries. Every student gets a passport and when they enter the different countries they get a stamp in their passport. In the afternoon we have a program where every grade level does a performance of a song (6th grade performed my favorite Mambo Mambo click to listen) and dance that represents their country. The pictures below are mostly of my classroom and some of our travels around the different countries around the building.

This has been an incredible year for us and I'm always sad to see my 6th graders off to middle school. I have been so blessed to have so many of them come back to visit me and tell me all about their experiences. I will miss these 6th graders just as much! I also can't believe that Kinsey is almost done with kindergarten and will be in 1st grade. Time goes by so quickly!
